Old Pine Community Center provides a licensed after school program for children in kindergarten through eighth grade who attend Nebinger, Meredith and McCall Elementary Schools, and Independence Charter School. In keeping with a safe environment, staff accompany children on their walk from school to the Center. During school vacation and other days the schools are off, the program converts into an all-day program. Safe and stimulating age appropriate activities allow children to build interpersonal skills such as cooperation, problem solving, and effective self-expression. Our program creatively incorporates time for homework, snacks, exercise, and the arts while promoting the development of a positive self image. We emphasize a quality of care and commitment to the children that is not normally found in an average after school program. Our care providers and counselors work to give personal time to each child by providing homework-related support, assistance in understanding peer interactions, and encouragement to achieve full participation in games and activities. Homework Assistance includes:- Fostering study strategies
- Working with children individually and in small groups
- Providing resources for tutoring
Daily Activities and Enrichment include:- Drawing and crafts
- Positive communication skills
- Computer skills
- Music and movement
- Sports
- Team building exercises
- Theater and dramatic arts
